Uma Nivas started in 1978 with a small school made of stone and mud with a thatched roof. Soon the Children’s Home, a teenage girls’ orphanage was added. Since then Uma Nivas has steadily grown to six primary schools, a Girls’ High School, two clinics, Music College, and hostels providing education and health care to hundreds of children, women and families.
