Overcoming limits

Midnight bear-watch and the Surprising Cat Woman

Seven of the older children did really well on their first-ever camping expedition with Outward Bound in Sovata, especially considering that sometimes the backpacks were almost as big as they were!

One of the challenges was keeping the fire going throughout the night, to protect the camp from the brown bears that are abundant in the area.  The children constructed tents, cooked outdoors, did very exciting high ropes exercises, rock-climbing and much more!

This trip was an annual tradition for our previous group of teenagers and we saw that it really helped them prepare for life, gaining problem-solving skills, confidence as well as to learn to work in a team. We are so grateful that the new children have the chance to start early, knowing how valuable the experience can be for their future.

Indeed, everyone overcame some kind of limit and discovered new abilities!
Find out what made our very macho sixteen-year-old hesitate, trembling for more than a half-hour, and who was our surprising Cat-woman!
